Outlaws clubhouse in Maine catches fire

DAYTON, Maine (AP) — Officials are investigating a fire that destroyed part of the Outlaws motorcycle gang clubhouse in southern Maine.

Firefighters were called to the fire at 9:30 p.m. Sunday on the Hollis Road in Dayton.

According to WMTW-TV, half the clubhouse was destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

The fire occurred as a federal jury in Virginia is deliberating in the racketeering trial of four Outlaws members accused of being part of a criminal enterprise responsible for a variety of violent crimes in multiple states, including Maine, most of them part of a turf war with the rival Hell's Angels motorcycle gang.

A former Outlaws enforcer pleaded guilty in Portland last month to charges stemming from the 2009 shooting of a rival Hell's Angels club member in the town of Anson.
