POLICE are examining reports of a possible turf war between bikies and supporters of John Ibrahim for control of Sydney's notorious Kings Cross.

"We're having a good look at what has been said," Deputy Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas said.

"My first view is that it is embellished a little bit, but we'll certainly keep an eye on it, as we always have."

While the extent of nightclub promoter John Ibrahim's interests have never been clear, his power is assumed. But now the word is out. The King, in a sense, is dead.

Although widely regarded as the man in charge, he remains untouched by the law.

But now the word is out - and not just on the streets. The King, in a sense, is already dead.

Sydney, Australia's crime capital, is undergoing a changing of the guard.
