Member of Outlaws bike gang released on bail

A federal judge today decided to release a member of the Outlaws motorcycle club on bail pending his trial.

Kenneth Chretien was arrested last week and charged with resisting a federal search warrant that was being executed by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at the house he co-owns in Old Orchard Beach.

Chretien's brother-in-law and co-owner of the house, Thomas Mayne, was killed during the raid. Chretien's conditions of release prohibit him from having any contact with members of the Outlaws.

However, Chretien's lawyer, Randall Bates, has asked that Chretien be allowed to attend Mayne's funeral this Saturday in Old Orchard Beach.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Wolff objected to the request. U.S. Magistrate Judge John Rich is expected to make a decision later this week.
