Feds: 60 Mongols biker gang members plead guilty to racketeering in Calif. since 2008 raids

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Federal prosecutors say 60 members of the Mongols motorcycle gang have pleaded guilty to racketeering since they were caught in a federal sweep more than a year ago.

The Mongols who agreed to plea deals include former national president Ruben "Doc" Cavazos.

A spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles said this week that about 10 people received prison terms of up to 20 years each. The rest await sentencing.

Trial is pending for 19 other members.

Authorities say the West Covina, Calif.-based club engaged in murder, extortion and drug trafficking. Some 80 members were indicted after authorities in six states conducted raids against the gang in October 2008.
