'Sons of Anarchy' makes way for the king

Entertainment Weekly reported recently that Stephen King will make a cameo appearance on the upcoming third season of the FX drama “Sons of Anarchy.” According to the EW report:

…King will play a quiet loner who appears in Gemma’s (Katey Sagal) time of need.

The producers of the hit show—it was cable’s second-highest rated scripted drama last season—reached out to King after learning he’s a fan.

“Sons”, is about a gun-running outlaw biker gang styled after real-life gangs like The Hells Angels and The Grim Reapers. Operating out of Northern California, the gang is constantly at odds with drug dealers. Somewhat surprisingly, “Sons” is loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”.

I gladly count myself among King’s legion of literary fans; his acting, not so much. Regardless, after his devastating 1999 vehicular accident, it always nice to see the “king of horror” physically active and doing well.

King will appear in season 3’s third episode. The third season of “Sons of Anarchy” premieres on cable’s FX Network in September.
